Rising New Zealand producer, Haan808 set his sights on musical success at a young age. He was gifted a
guitar at six and was quickly entwined by its strings. After years of he intently studying the riffs of legends
both famous and obscure, he stumbled upon the art of sampling. Enthralled by 9th Wonder’s inherent ability
to transform his favorite licks into neck snapping backdrops for some of the world’s biggest wordsmiths,
Haan808 began crafting beats. As he learned the art of sculpting punchy drums and atmospheric synths, he
established himself as one of the most promising producers in Oceania, and now chants of “HaanSolo” ring
through sold out crowds.
Although still only 20 years old, the young Haan808 has already attracted the attention of world renowned
producers, solely off the strength of his production. His “LoveNothing” received a remix from Soulection’s
own Abjo and Mr. Carmack, leading to placement with rapper Waldo and his debut album Some Unanswered
Questions (Trapdoor UK) featured Sango. He recently released Mad Decent sub-label Good Enuff, where he
recently released single “Explicit Manner”. His recent musical endeavors have allowed him to grace the stage
with critically acclaimed bass artists, including Kaytranada, Hudson Mohawke, Lunice, and Kiwi legends six60.
As Haan808’s recognition expands outside of New Zealand, so have his musical aspirations. Whether it be
performing at major festivals such as Northern Bass and Rhythm & Vines, or building stronger relationships
with peers he used to consider his idols, Haan808 will continue to find ways to use his soundscapes to forge
bridges to other communities and cultures across the world.
