HALFQUEEN is a DJ whose sets are just as unapologetic and empowering as her presence
in every space. Specializing in the genre bending sounds of global club, she’s driven to
connect by conjuring collective nostalgia, unbridled joy and ass shaking.
Rooted in the experience of her Fijian and Pākehā bloodlines, HALFQUEEN’s background and native
city of Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, has influenced a confluence of sound that is ever-evolving,
musically speaking, into a local and global sense of diaspora; connecting the dots between genres
and islands worldwide.
Known for her energetic and unpredictable curation, HALFQUEEN has etched herself into
the nightlife fabric of not only Aotearoa, but underground communities everywhere.
Her ability to explore different sonic worlds and transcend genre has led her to support a range of
artists from YG to Sister Nancy, Cakes Da Killa to Marc Rebillet, Earthgang to Gavsborg.
2023 saw her secure a BBC Radio 1 residency and complete debut tours of Europe and East Asia,
playing sets at Glastonbury, Horst Music & Arts Festival and Fabric, as well as Oil Shenzhen,
Cakeshop Seoul and Circus Tokyo to name a few.
Uncompromised vision, connection and care underpin her work as a DJ. event producer and curator;
her DIY QTBIPOC clubnight and platform FILTH is a manifestation of this ethos.
HALFQUEEN’s artistic passion lies in storytelling. Her focus is creating sets and environments where
the exchange between the audience and DJ is undeniably powerful, with a higher purpose of
decolonising the d-floor, uplifting marginalized communities worldwide, and highlighting the
importance of the Rave in the revolution.
