Want to stay off site?
Take a look for baches and rentals in the surrounding towns. Make sure that you plan how to get to the festival when booking your baches.
Try AirBnb, BookaBach or one of the local campgrounds like Ruakaka or Mangawhai.
Yes, Northern Bass is an R18 event. A valid form of ID will be required for entry (NZ driver licence, current passport, Kiwi Access card, HANZ 18+ card).
No ID, no entry – it’s a law thing, not a discretion thing.
If you do not have the ID that you need, that matches your ticket, you will not be allowed to enter the festival.
If you have lost your ID, grab everything you can that proves who you are and book to see a Justice of the Peace who can sign a statutory declaration that you are over 18.
- – Have your ticket handy on your phone
- – ID (valid NZ Govt issues or valid passports)
- – Sunscreen
- – Don’t forget to bring some cash to top up your Wayver chip the first time. You can top up with EFTPOS, but cash is a lot faster (and no signal failures on cash!). Please note that only the Wayver topup stations accept cash – everything else on site requires payment through your Wayver chip.
- – There will be loads of great food stalls on site, but it is always handy to have some snack foods
– No more than 6 x unopened non-alcoholic drinks in CANS only (any over and above the limit will be confiscated).

- – No ice packs
If you must bring a chilly bin then you will likely be redirected to a different line that will take longer to search.
Northern Bass is a licensed premise; so our liquor license means that you won’t be able to bring alcohol into the festival. We have multiple bars on site, including one right by the campground. You are able to take any alcohol bought on site into the campground as long as advised by secuirty.
You can bring breakfast and snack foods that do not require cooking.
Everyone entering the festival will be subject to a full search. Event organisers will have discretion to confiscate/remove any items entering the venue.
Northern Bass has a zero tolerance policy to drugs on site.

PASSOUTS:
There are NO pass-outs from Northern Bass. Once you have entered the festival you CANNOT leave and re-enter on the same day.
The only exception is for campers staying at the venue for two or three days. Those with a 3 day camping pass can leave the venue on 30th and 31st, and those with a 2 day camping pass can leave the venue on the 31st, in order to visit the local area/beach etc – but you must be out of the venue before 12pm.
This year we are going to be running a FREE bus taking campers into the local spots – Mangawhai and Mangawhai Heads. We drop you at Mangawhai Heads Info Centre – walking distance to the beach! This bus will run from 9am – 12pm and you will be able to jump on a return trip for free with your camping wristband. This is only for campers who have stayed on site the night before who are heading to the beach in the morning. If you need to catch a bus to arrive at the festival on your first day, or need a ride home when the festival ends, you will need to buy a bus pass.
You will be checked on your return for intoxication and will not be able to enter the venue if intoxicated. You will also be subject to a full search when re-entering the Northern Bass site.
But then… why would you want to leave? We have everything you need on site!
Campervans will not be permitted to re-enter the venue if they leave.
We don’t offer refunds on any tickets – unless the event is cancelled.
If you need to, you can sell your ticket to someone else. Make sure you sell it to them via Ticket Fairy – this way you get your money and they get their ticket sent directly to them.
Direct Resale (when you find someone to sell your ticket to) opens on December 1. Waiting list resale opens when a full ticket type sells out (like all 2 day passes).
Information on how to complete a Direct Resale (the only way to transfer ownership of your tickets) can be found here.
Resale for tickets closes at 10am on 29 DECEMBER. This is later than previously advertised, to capture more of the last minute sales.
Check out our festival terms and conditions here.
No – unless the seller will complete the sale via Ticket Fairy Direct Resale.
We DO NOT guarantee any tickets sold/purchased outside of Ticket Fairy.
Name changes are not open as they are not needed for any tickets purchased the correct way. For information on the Direct Sale process, please head here.
Yes, the name on the ticket needs to match the name on the ID. If it is obviously a shorter version of the name, and the picture looks like you, then that will be fine.
If you have bought tickets through the correct website (Ticket Fairy and Ticket Fairy resale) and put your nickname, or put two tickets in your own name (it happens) then message support@theticketfairy.com and explain the situation. We will look at things on a case-by-case basis.
If you have bought the ticket through any other channel, request your money back and then complete the sale via the correct Direct Resale process found here.
Yes we do! This year we have opened up the full festival with one-day tickets.
There is only camping available for Dec 31.
Get in quick as all of these tickets are limited!
No we do not usually have gate sales. We will advertise if we will have any gate sales closer to the event.
You cannot change any names at the gate and you can’t buy any tickets (or add-ons) that are sold out.
